“Annie Morrison is an inspirational leader within the field of voice and speech work. Highly regarded within the world of actor training and within the world of the film, theatre and recorded media industries, this book makes her work available to a wider audience and it will be of invaluable use to any professional voice user as well as to anyone who wishes to become a more effective or expressive speaker. The book is filled with useful, practical exercises and illustrated with thought-provoking texts as illustrations that help to inform and contextualize the work she offers.”

I wanted to move speech training away from the notion of tongue gym and the idea that tongues need taming! For most people it is the opposite – we have tongues that need ‘wilding’… in other words re-connecting to instinct and heart.

If speaking is overly reduced to information transfer, do we need to find a means of re-enchanting it?  ‘Creative Articulation’ is an imaginative and scientific approach to speech training. Visceral, vibrant, intelligible speech is spellbinding – speaker and listener become one entity in the moment of speech.

Speech muscularity needs strengthening, but by approaching the athleticism as artists – we can avoid the tendency to exercise mechanically - we become increasingly mindful of the moment of speech.

Creative articulation is about expressing something of yourself and your soul, in the words you form.
